In May 2012, the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Chiefs signed an interim arrangement with Parks Canada to grant the Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia free entry to Kejimkujik National Park Canada to grant the Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia free entry to Kejimkujik National Park/National Historic Site, Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the Fortress of Louisburg National Historic Site.

Vehicle Identifiers have been created under this program to be distributed to our communities.  Please know Vehicle Identifiers are now available at the Band Office; one per household, as they cover the driver of the vehicle and up to five passengers.  They can be picked up at the Band Office Reception.  Please be advised, a Name, Status Card #, Address and Signature are required by the Assembly of NS Mi’kmaq Chiefs when picking up a Vehicle Identifier.  Please be assured that information will not be shared without the individual’s consent.  This is simply for the Assembly to track where the Vehicle IDs are being distributed within the province.

Please be advised that the work hours for our Native Employment Officer (NEO), Carol Thompson, have changed. The new hours are: Monday and Tuesday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.

Muin Sipu Learning Centre

The Children and staff at the Muin Sipu Learning Centre are planning to build a Plastic Bottle Greenhouse. We will need approximately 1500 (clear) plastic 2 L bottles for its construction. For those folks who would like to donate their bottles for this project, please drop them off at the Muin Sipu Learning Centre.

The Bridge crossing at Sandy Bottom Brook that goes through the reserve Is starting to wash out. Please try to find an alternate route. All crossing is done at own risk.

EXCITING NEWS!!!!

The L’sitkuk to Keji Project is able to show tangible progress in the development of the Canoe Route.

After many months of researching, developing and behind the scenes paperwork, this past couple of months we have been able to do physical work to the developing the trail.

Tours of the trail are being set up for the days of May 13, 14 and 15.  If you would like to see the progress being made please contact Councilor Carol Ann Potter at the Band Office - 467-3802 or capbrfn@eastlink.ca to set up a time for a guided tour to be taken into the route during one of these days!!!  We hope to see you!!!!

L’SITKUK TO KEJI TRIP
